The U.S. encouraged Iran to nationalize oil — report

The United States Ambassador to Iran, Henry F. Grady (1950 - 1951), according to an unconfirmed report, is said to have encouraged Iran to nationalize the British organized Anglo-Iranian Oil Company so that American oil companies could, at a later date, gain control of Iran's oil.
